Maguire valuation

Manchester United’s valuation of Harry Maguire could prevent him from leaving the club this summer unless there is a compromise on any fee.

United are understood to have valued Maguire at £50million as a starting price, a figure that is highly unlikely to be offered by any club.

Maguire, 30, joined United for £80m in 2019 – a world-record fee for a defender – but he lost his place only two games into last season.

Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw are all ahead of Maguire in the central defensive pecking order.

Safe standing increase

Manchester United are to add a further 2,100 safe-standing seats at Old Trafford next season after declaring a trial at the ground to be a success, bringing the total to 6,000.

The additional rail seats will be added in the south west quadrant of the stadium, adjoining the Stretford End and the home of the Red Army fan group, who have been adding to the atmosphere at the stadium in recent seasons.

Installation of the new seats is set to be completed ahead of the first game of the Premier League season against Wolves on Monday, August 14.

United first introduced safe standing at Old Trafford in January 2022, when the ground was one of five chosen for a trial period, which began with 1,500 rail seats in the north east quadrant and 2,500 in the away end.
