Camilla was on a solo visit to Aberdeen Art Gallery yesterday to open its new Safe Space to help people if they suspect someone is living with domestic abuse.

Asked about the King she replied: “He’s fine, thank you very much. Looking forward to getting back to work.” Charles, who is at his private home Birkhall in Aberdeenshire, is preparing for a corrective procedure after being diagnosed with a benign enlarged prostate.

The 75-year-old monarch, who acceded to the throne 16 months ago, will be admitted to hospital next week.

Charles was keen to share his diagnosis to encourage men who may have symptoms to get checked.

And it seemed to have worked. Since the King shared his news, there has been a significant increase in searches for an “enlarged prostate” on the NHS website.

Its related page received more than 11 times as many visits on Wednesday compared to Tuesday.

There were 16,410 visits on Wednesday – an average of one visit every five seconds – compared to 1,414 visits on Tuesday, NHS England said.

The King is said to have started experiencing symptoms on his Christmas break at Birkhall. These can include finding it difficult to start urinating, straining to go, a weak flow, needing to go frequently in the night and urinary incontinence.

It is common in men over over 50 but not usually serious.

However, they are encouraged to have it checked because it does mean they have an increased risk of prostate cancer.

Most men do not need treatment unless symptoms are particularly severe.
